Regional Forums on WA Agricultural Supply Chain Improvements (ASCI)

The Western Australian Government has commenced engagement with communities in the Wheatbelt, Great Southern, Mid-West and Goldfields-Esperance regions to discuss planned and potential supply chain investments to improve the movement of agricultural products from farm to port (or destination).

Supply chain improvements were identified by Infrastructure Australia (IA) as a priority worthy of investment in its 2021 Infrastructure Priority List released in February this year.

The WA Government supports such investment and has established a Project Team including representation from all three of the State’s Transport agencies, to develop a business case for submission to IA. It is hoped that strengthening the case for investment through this submission, will secure a long-term funding agreement between the private sector and all levels of Government to ensure ongoing investment into strategic regional supply chain improvements.

As part of this process, the Project team will host a series of public forums to update key stakeholders on progress and gather their feedback on relevant issues.

A copy of the slides that were presented at the forum can be viewed here.

If you further feedback to submit please submit your feedback by August 13 2021.

Local community forums will take place in seven regional centres located between Geraldton and Esperance during July and August 2021. Each forum will provide the opportunity for attendees to learn more about the current Government investments to improve agricultural freight, as well as have a say in how future investment is directed.

You should consider attending one of the forums if you are involved in the agricultural supply chain, either as a grower, someone in the road or rail freight industry, or interested in the impact of freight arrangements on regional economies, road safety, community amenity or the environment.
