Terms and Conditions
- General. These Terms and Conditions apply to the Australind Naming Competition conducted by the Public Transport Authority (ABN 61 850 109 576) Level 1, Public Transport Centre, West Parade, Perth WA 6000 (PTA).
- Eligibility. Entry is open to entrants aged 18 years and over, residing in Western Australia. Employees of the PTA, its contractors, associated agencies and their immediate families are ineligible to enter.
- Competition Period. Entries open on Wednesday 22 April 2026 . Entries close on Monday 18 May 2026.
- How to Enter. Entry is free and no purchase is required. Entrants must submit a proposed name for one of the four new Australind trains currently under construction using the official entry method provided by PTA. Only one entry per person is permitted unless otherwise stated.
- Prize.There are four (4) prizes available, one prize for each winner. The prizes consist of the winner’s choice of:
- Two seats on the first passenger service of the new Australind train that will operate on Sunday 28 June; or
- A return trip for two on any regular Australind passenger service.
- The winning names will be displayed on a plaque inside one of the four (4) new Australind trains. Prizes are not transferrable, exchangeable, or redeemable for cash.
- Selection of Winner. After the competition closes, the winning entries will be selected by a panel appointed by the State Government of Western Australia, based on creativity, relevance, appropriateness, and alignment with PTA objectives. The judging will occur no later than one month after the competition closing date. The decision of the judging panel is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
- Notification of Winner. The winners will be notified via email on Friday June 5. If any of the winners cannot be contacted within 14 days, PTA may award the prize to the next highest-ranked entry.
- Use of Submissions. By entering, each entrant grants PTA a perpetual, royalty‑free licence to use the winning name for promotional and operational purposes. Each winner consent to the use of their name for the purpose of announcing the winner of the competition, and displaying their name on the plaque inside one of the new Australind trains, without additional payment.
- Privacy. Personal information collected for the competition will be solely used for administration of the competition and prize fulfilment. Personal information will not be sold, distributed, or disclosed except as required for administering the competition and facilitating the prize collection in accordance with the PTA’s Privacy Statement, available on our website.
- Liability. Each winner releases and indemnifies the PTA against all liability for any cost, loss, damage, injury, or expense, whether direct or indirect, arising out of accepting or using the prize, except to the extent such liability cannot be excluded by law. PTA is not responsible for late, lost, or misdirected entries.
- PTA’s Rights. The PTA may disqualify any entrant who breaches these Terms and Conditions. The PTA may modify, suspend, or cancel the competition if required for regulatory or operational reasons, subject to applicable laws.
