Consultation has concluded

Since April 2018 we’ve heard the community say the Bayswater Station Upgrade should:

  • Be a connector across the town, to new places and for visitors to Bayswater
  • Celebrate the area’s rich history
  • Create a station with modern facilities that is safe, functional and integrates with the area’s character
  • Prioritise people of all ages and abilities

While the station infrastructure itself is fixed because of technical, functional and safety reasons, there is an opportunity for the community to provide input on the new public spaces around the station, through the Public Realm and Art Plan currently being developed.

The Plan considers all the work and community feedback previously conducted by others and METRONET for the town centre’s vision and planning and is guided by a proposed vision for these new public spaces:

‘’The new Beeralain | Bayswater Station Precinct will create a gateway and arrival place for Bayswater. The public spaces will strengthen and activate the Bayswater Town Centre by drawing on community values to provide enjoyable, active spaces day and night. It will nourish daily life and support community gatherings and events in a vibrant, safe and green environment.’’

This vision is supported by Sense of Place Statements that highlight four key local themes:

  • River Town: the river is at the heart of Bayswater.
  • Local Life: social encounters in a vibrant town centre.
  • Green and Healthy: a neighbourhood that associates with the word ‘green’.
  • Work and Toil: a community that has worked for success.

Tenancy opportunities within the station building will be explored once the contractor is on board.

This survey has now closed, thanks to everyone who took the time to provide feedback. The results of the survey will be published in early 2020. Sign up to project updates and get them straight into your inbox.
