As part of the planning for the implementation of national heavy vehicle licensing reforms, we are considering whether minor adjustments are necessary to reflect the unique nature of the freight industry in Western Australia.

The Department of Transport (DoT) is seeking feedback on three key components:

  • Ineligibility for those with a licence suspension/disqualification in past 2 years.
  • Requirement to hold an HC licence before an MC licence.
  • Expanding the use of telematics and other in-cab technology to improve fatigue management and/or compliance with access, mass or route management.

For more details about the national reform program, see the Austroads website.
