The Western Australia’s Regional Roadworks Signage Review was held during 2021 to enhance safety and improve road user experiences through road works.

The report are now available to view:

Initiated by the Minister for Transport, the review was undertaken by an industry-based stakeholder reference group made up of representatives led by Chairperson Dennis O’Reilly. The review looked at what and how temporary traffic signage at roadworks sites is installed, secured and managed in regional areas.

To inform the review the Australian Road Research Road Board (ARRB) undertook technical work which included reviewing legislation, operations and the use of traffic control signage, technology and innovation at works sites across WA and the nation. ARRB’s scope included looking at existing traffic management and signage standards, policies and practices.

Feedback was also sought form the community about their experiences with roadworks signage on regional roads. This feedback was considered by our Reference Group alongside the technical work by ARRB, and has been used to inform the recommendation report.

Thank you to the community members and organisations that participated in the review and community engagement program.
