Consultation has concluded
A second round of community consultation has now closed, as the Department reviews the safety equipment required for recreational vessels (e.g. boats, personal water craft, sailboards etc.) on all WA waters, including inland waterways, rivers and lakes for the first time since 1992.
Survey results and other feedback received will be analysed and considered by the Department of Transport’s Internal Reference Group and the External Reference Group. Your feedback will help refine the final change proposals which will be presented to the Minister for Transport in 2020.
Visit the Department of Transport website for more information.
About the review
The aim of the review is to deliver a contemporary safety equipment regime for recreational vessels in WA as boating and community behaviours, technology, vessel design and construction standards have changed significantly in the past 27 years.
DoT convened an external reference group representing key industry and boating community organisations to guide the review process which has included two rounds of consultation with the wider community.
