A survey was recently conducted to collect community feedback on a concept that will provide a solution for upgrading West Coast Highway between Ventnor Street to West Coast Terrace in Scarborough. Feedback is currently under review and a report on the survey responses will be made public by late March.
The concept design aims to better connect Scarborough and improve safety around the Scarborough Beach foreshore hub for road users, residents and visitors to this iconic area.
The main purpose of the planning concept is to identify the future land requirements for an upgrade and make a submission to Development WA to amend the Scarborough Redevelopment Scheme and protect the land. The concept is not currently funded for construction.
We received 719 responses to the survey mainly from residents primarily living in Scarborough and its surrounding suburbs, community groups, developers, as well as professional industry groups.
The survey results demonstrated significant support, with almost 70 per cent behind the concept. Information captured in the survey will be used to further develop the concept.
