I am pleased to report that Westport has completed the second multi-criteria analysis (MCA-2) on the shortlist of future port options. MCA-2 was a rigorous, detailed assessment of each option against a comprehensive list of economic, environmental and social performance criteria.
In our forthcoming Stage 2 Outcomes Report, you will see more details of the shortlist options Westport has been investigating.

I appreciate there was a lot to digest, and I have noticed some incorrect Information appearing in public discussion. This makes me think that there’s still a lack of understanding around the project, so I am sharing more information to help correct these misunderstandings.

I was delighted to release the five Westport Beacons announcing the shortlist and MCA-1 outcomes. This marks a major milestone for the project. In essence, the release of the shortlist was confirmation that an Outer Harbour is needed to meet Western Australia's freight demands for the next 50 years and beyond.

I am pleased to announce that Westport is launching a series of regular publications called the Westport Beacon. Each issue of the Beacon will explain various components of Westport’s work and investigations which, together, will form the evidence base that will determine the final strategy.

2020-2021 Stage 2B (transition stage)
Westport Project Updates is currently at this stageThis stage will further investigate issues that were not closed during Stage 2, and activities such as corridor protection, developing detailed designs and commencement of environmental monitoring in Cockburn Sound to start building resilience.
The Westport process will continue to be consultative, supported by a strong governance framework and based on reliable, well-researched information and realistic forecasting data.

2021-2024 Stage 3
this is an upcoming stage for Westport Project UpdatesDuring this stage, Westport will be continuing activities such as corridor protection; environmental studies in preparation for project referral to the Environmental Protection Authority and to develop resilience building initiatives in Cockburn Sound; assessing the commercial implications of transition options; preparation of a business case; and targeted engagement with key stakeholders and interest groups.
