The Department of Transport is administering the Regional Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) Taxi Service Grant (the Grant). These grants aim to contribute towards the cost of purchasing or replacing WAV taxis, and/or establishing WAV taxi services in towns where none exist.

The next round of the Grant scheme will be delivered in Geraldton. Demand for wheelchair accessible taxi services continues to increase in this area, exceeding the level of supply established WAV taxis can provide.

To inform this Grant round, we are conducting consultation to help us understand the experiences of people who use wheelchairs when they are travelling to and moving around Geraldton.

The Department of Transport will be visiting Geraldton in May 2023. You’re invited to attend:

  • a public meeting in Geraldton with representatives from DoT on Tuesday 2 May 2023 ; and/or
  • organise a one-to-one meeting with representatives from DoT on Tuesday 2 May 2023.

There are two ways we would like to hear from you:

Discuss Geraldton's wheelchair accessible transport and Grant opportunities in closer detail, informed by the survey feedback.

  • organise a one-to-one meeting with representatives from DoT on Tuesday 2 May 2023.

    We’re seeking your feedback to help us shape the Geraldton round of the Regional Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) Taxi Service Grant.

    This survey will ask you to consider the experiences of people who use wheelchairs when they are travelling to and moving around Geraldton. 

    Your feedback will help inform our in-person discussions with people in Geraldton.
