High Street Upgrade

Planning for the upgrade of High Street between Stirling Highway and Carrington Street is now in full swing. A draft concept was presented for feedback to community and stakeholders in March 2018.

With the aim to improve safety, reduce congestion and improve traffic flow in and out of Fremantle, this upgrade will benefit local community, road users and the freight industry.

Informed by your feedback and in consultation with the City of Fremantle, an updated concept plan was released in August 2018.

What is happening now?

Main Roads called for tenders from industry for the design and construction in March. Contract award is due in early October with construction scheduled to begin in early-2020. Thank you your feedback during the concept development stage. Your input has shaped the preliminary design for this important upgrade.
