Proposed changes to mooring zones in the Swan Canning Riverpark Mooring Management Plan
The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) and the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure (DTMI) share responsibility for managing swing moorings in the Swan Canning Riverpark. The Swan Canning Riverpark Mooring Management Program (MMP) provides the framework to achieve this.
DTMI is proposing minor extensions to existing mooring zones located at Claremont, Peppermint Grove, Mosman Bay North and Mosman Bay South. The proposed extensions will not affectany existing moorings in these areas.
The new areas proposed adjacent to existing mooring zones were selected based on a range of factors including:
Avoiding disturbance to seagrass and other sensitive marine habitats
Suitable water depth for mooring apparatus
Practical shore access for mooring licence holders
Navigational safety considerations
These extensions will support the relocation of moorings from Matilda Bay that will be displaced by construction and operations of the new ferry terminal. These changes will not increase the overall number of mooring sites within the Riverpark.
Feedback received during this consultation will help inform consideration of the proposed extensions before any changes are finalised.
Please review the consultation materials and complete the survey to provide your feedback.
Survey closes at 5.00 pm on Tuesday 3 November 2026.
