The Department of Transport (DoT) administers the Regional Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) Taxi Service Grant (the Grant). The Grant aims to support WAV taxi services in regional WA by contributing towards the cost of:
purchasing or replacing WAV taxis; and/or
establishing WAV taxi services in towns where none exist.
The next round of the Grant will be delivered in the Great Southern and Goldfields-Esperance regions throughout February and March 2024.
To help inform this round, we’re keen to understand the experiences of people who use wheelchairs when they are travelling to and moving around these regions.
How to get involved
Your input will help us shape the Great Southern and Goldfields-Esperance round of the Regional WAV Taxi Service Grant and inform how the Grants are rolled out to other regions in WA.

A digital forum hosted by DoT representatives to discuss wheelchair accessible transport and the Regional Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle Grant in further detail will be run on Thursday 22 February 2024. One-on-one informal phone and video meetings will also be conducted.

Any potential grant applicants identified through this consultation will be invited to submit an expression of interest for the grant.

The Regional WAV Taxi Service Grants Committee will evaluate applications and make recommendations for approval to the Minister for Transport. Outcomes of this process will be communicated with industry and relevant stakeholders.
