The METRONET Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project is Perth’s first major elevated rail project designed to improve public transport safety, create new and versatile public space for the community and reduce traffic congestion.

Six level crossings will be removed along the Armadale Line by raising the rail over the road at Mint Street, Oats Street, Welshpool Road, Hamilton Street, Wharf Street and William Street. New modern elevated stations will be built at Carlisle, Oats Street, Queens Park, Cannington and Beckenham stations. Welshpool Station will close.

Around the stations, public space will be created for community members to enjoy with friends, family and neighbours. With the help of the community and stakeholders, we've developed designs for public spaces around Carlisle, Oats Street, Queens Park and Cannington stations.

Access and connection points

11 months

With William Street level crossing removed, fences down and public open spaces opening up in and around new elevated rail, we need to consider the best possible locations for access, crossing and connection points that cater for pedestrians, cyclists, public transport passengers, schools, businesses and community, who need to move, operate and reside near Beckenham Station.

Drag and drop a pin where you think the most suitable places might be for:

  • Key connections: Connecting key facilities you need to easily access on either side of the railway (ie: shops, schools, leisure centres)
  • Walking/cycling crossing points: Places to safely cross at key intersections.
  • Station car parking access: Which side of the rail line should train station car park access be?

Click on the marker + symbol. Drag and drop the relevant coloured pins onto the map in and around the project area. Remember to give us your reasons for putting your pins in these spots in the comments box.
