The Passenger Transport Subsidy Scheme (PTSS) is the new digital system that will replace the Taxi User Subsidy Scheme (TUSS) by March 2025.

The PTSS pilot began in the Perth metropolitan area in December 2024, with a small number of taxi drivers and TUSS participants testing the new PTSS system, including:

  • the PTSS card;
  • the PTSS mobile app; and
  • driver activity reports in DoTDirect.

The pilot will expand to regional areas in early 2025, to explore the unique experiences of people living and working in regional WA.

Feedback from participating taxi drivers and passengers will help the Department of Transport ensure the PTSS system works smoothly for both drivers and passengers.

Taxi drivers and TUSS participants taking part in the pilot may use this page to provide feedback on their experiences using the new PTSS system.

About PTSS

Under the new digital PTSS system, paper TUSS vouchers will be replaced with a new smartcard for participants that the taxi driver will scan at the start and end of the trip.

To capture journey details, taxi drivers will either:

  • use a mobile app developed by DoT; or
  • their on-demand booking service will integrate their existing dispatch equipment with DoT systems to automatically capture trip details.

All drivers and on-demand booking services providing on-demand rank or hail (taxi) services must accept TUSS vouchers, and PTSS once it starts.
